RCAM Technologies is a cleantech startup that uses 3D concrete printing to reduce the cost of renewable energy and create domestic jobs. We develop cutting-edge, award-winning products for floating solar, offshore wind, wave energy projects, and subsea energy storage. Our R&D is supported by funding agencies including the U.S. Department of Energy, California Energy Commission, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, National Science Foundation, and other domestic and international grant agencies.

 

Success in this position will be measured primarily through:

  • Leadership and management of RCAM’s grant-funded R&D projects advancing its marine pumped hydroelectric energy storage technology.
  • Technical contributions in energy storage system design and engineering.
  • Successful development and execution of strategic plans for commercialization of RCAM’s energy storage product line.
  • Effective collaboration with RCAM’s R&D, engineering, and marketing teams.

What You Will Do:

The Energy Storage Product Manager will contribute to RCAM’s success by leading the development of the company’s marine pumped hydroelectric energy storage technology, an innovative subsea pumped hydroelectric system that pairs with offshore wind energy.

Primary responsibilities:

Energy storage system design and analysis:

  • Develop process flow diagrams, piping & instrumentation diagrams, and heat and mass balances for an innovative pumped hydro storage technology
  • Model system energy storage performance and characteristics
  • Develop equipment and materials lists and system cost estimates to assess different configurations

 

Project Management:

  • Develop project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, resources, and risk management strategies.
  • Effectively manage multidisciplinary R&D projects with external project partners.
  • Prioritize tasks and allocate resources effectively, ensuring project completion on-time and within budget.
  • Lead and motivate project teams, providing direction, guidance, and support to ensure project goals are met.
  • Engage stakeholders, communicate project objectives, progress, and perform project reporting requirements.

 

Product Strategy:

  • Lead the development of energy storage products from conception to commercialization, ensuring alignment with market needs and company goals.
  • Define the product vision, goals, and roadmap in alignment with the company's overall strategy.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs and pain points.

 

Product Development:

  • Manage the product development process, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
  • Collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to create product requirements, specifications, and prototypes.
  • Make decisions regarding features, functionality, and prioritization.

 

Go-to-Market Strategy:

  • Develop and execute go-to-market plans for product launches.
  • Work closely with marketing and sales teams to create messaging, positioning, and sales strategies.
  • Monitor product performance and customer feedback post-launch.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, R&D, marketing, and sales.
  • Ensure alignment on product goals, priorities, and timelines.

 

Other duties as assigned.

  • Annual salary of $100,000 - $140,000
  • Flexibility to work remotely with an opportunity to work at RCAM’s office in AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA)

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

Essential:

  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, or a relevant field.
  • Expertise in energy storage and/or hydroelectric energy system design and analysis.
  • Proven track record in energy storage or renewable energy product development.
  • Strategic mindset allows that allows you to position products effectively in the market and anticipate future industry developments.
  • Demonstrated track record of operating with a results-driven mindset, showcasing commitment to achieving organizational goals.
  • Exceptional skills in communication, organization, project management, and leadership.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, organize work, and execute tasks independently or with other teams to meet tight deadlines.

 

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, or a relevant field.
  • Experience in pumped storage hydropower.
  • Knowledge of subsea energy storage and offshore wind industries.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to approximately 10% of the time domestically and internationally.
